TCBC Juniors – under covid old

Please review the Playing Under COVID regulations.

The TCBC Juniors Division is based at Thornden School in Chandlers Ford, Hampshire. We welcome all kids age 8+, from all schools and all levels.

How it works

Beginners and new players start on Wednesday nights or Friday nights.  As players improve their skills and techniques, they are invited into one of the more challenging groups held on Mondays. Although this isn’t a rule, it seems to turn out that Wednesday nights is for year 7 and up.  Fridays sessions from 4.30 to 5.30 pm are aimed at introducing Year 5 and 6 players to badminton.

Usually, we run annual memberships, however, due to recent ‘events’, we are offering 6 week memberships. This membership fee covers the cost of hall rental, professional coaching fees, shuttles, other equipment (including rackets), and Badminton England affiliation fees (including insurance cover).

The role of parent helpers

Each session must be supervised by two adults.  Our coaches are DBS checked and will run the coaching session but we look to the parents of our players, if they can, to sit in on a session occasionally, on a rota basis.  The parent helper’s duties are light: you read an information sheet about what to do in case of an emergency, then, typically, you watch, read a book, or get caught up in paperwork.  Going back over the years, we’ve had no emergencies, and the parent enjoys some ‘me’ time.  If you can’t make your own child’s session, you are welcome to sign up for any of the other sessions.  Please sign up using the parents’ rota if you can help out.

Fees – Approximately £5/class

£25/6 weeks for renewing members (£45 for two siblings) This discount is available for last year’s members who could not complete the year due to lockdown in March.

£30/6 weeks for new members (£55 for two siblings)
